Great Article! Love the in-depth break-down with screenshots.

When we first got word of the IdeaPad Y560, we had just seen Avatar in 3D. We immediately knew that it was ‘Eywa Approved’ and ‘fit for the Na’vi’.   (Quote)  (Reply)

I just bought mine…I really like it BUT I have 2 major problems…I was sitting here reviewing a Word Doc and it rebooted!! It has now rebooted 3 times on it’s own with no error just a HARD reboot. The second problem is I tend to plug it into a monitor, KB and mouse when I’m at my desk and on the reboot the system will not reboot unless I remove the mouse and KB….I going back to fry’s to get a new computer….what do I get :(   (Quote)  (Reply)

Hi Phyllis,
The problem may be that your laptop has a poor contact; you can remove your keyboard, LCD, touchpad, and then reinstall them and the OS too, then try again.  (Quote)  (Reply)

I’m expecting mine tomorrow. Excited but nervous. Hope I don’t run into any issues. How messed up is it to have to worry about a brand new item not working properly?  (Quote)  (Reply)

Did you find out the problem? I had same experience and return it to the store, but the store only gave me the store credit  (Quote)  (Reply)

I got it also, its preety good but not quite what i expected. For the past 2 years i had a overheating dell XPS but i don’t remember the model. I think that in 1 of the overheatings it had its graphics card damaged and i could barely play games.Sure i could handle CSS on medium but nothing more. When i got this laptop i was hoping that it could play any game out on the highest settings. I was wrong, so far i got only 3 demanding games: GTA IV, Red Faction: Gurilla and Shattered Horizon which isin’t that demanding. Shaterred Horizon works fine on Highest settings but the others i get a low frame rate sorta a lag very small but yet feeleble. This was a reall dissapointment it can’t handle a several year old game like GTA 4 on full than i dont think it will handle something like Crysis Warhead on medium. Overral its a good Laptop but not quite for extreme gaming just try and remember its a Laptop not a Desktop so its limited with the power supply aswell.  (Quote)  (Reply)

This is the first laptop I’ve truly loved. After two stinky HP Pavillion crap-tops I researched and purchased this one. My version is a little different but still a 560 model. Mine has a 320 GB drive and i5 processor. Build quality is outstanding including a solid keyboard, beautiful 15.6″ LED display, and 1 GB ATI switchable graphics card. I like that the i5 gives you better battery life, especially with the graphics card switched off. JBL speakers are amazing. I gave away my desktop plug ins, they were better! The worst part of the PC was actually the bloatware including MS Office 2010. Office runs slow so I’ll be uninstalling it and picking up a used copy of Office 2007. I covered security with a STOP plate and kensington alarmed cable (beeps if cut). The other PCs I compared this to were Toshiba, Samsung and ASUS. Toshiba actually has much worse build quality, their units are heavier and they play games like HP did where Toshiba disabled the NVIDEA Optimus switching on the graphics card just to advertise that some models have it and others don’t so practically this is a better pc because it allows you to switch. Toshiba is also much heavier and has a worse keyboard feel. ASUS build quality isn’t impressive. I noticed much more keyboard jumping when typing in the store. This Lenovo barely does that. Samsung isn’t terrible but isn’t up to this level in quality. They have terrible customer service where they can’t answer questions and build quality isn’t as good with cheaper cases and keyboards. Yes Samsung throws in a blu-ray player but it isn’t worth it to me. I’d rather have a better PC and possibly upgrade that later with the hard drive.

I love this PC!  (Quote)  (Reply)

I bought one of these recently. For those of you who are interested in using it for gaming, Mass Effect 2 is well optimized and looks terrific (you’ll need a USB mouse of course). The more demanding games will chug, though. The graphics card is very decent but more of a mid-range performer. The only real complaint I have with the notebook itself is that it chews through the battery extremely quickly. I have it plugged in most of the time. The keyboard is terrific, and the screen is beautiful. I have the model with the solid state drive, and it boots up very quickly as a result. I also have the i7, which is crazy fast.  (Quote)  (Reply)

The only actual problem that I have with i7 Y560 is that it came without Bluetooth for some reason -.-  (Quote)  (Reply)
