We have aroused interest in Toshiba Folio 100 with a dual core chipset NVIDIA Tegra 2 and T250 processor. It is amazing that such powerful configuration has been housed in Toshiba AS100.  Toshiba Folio AS100 sports 10.1-inch four-point touch screen with resolution up to 1024 × 600, 16GB Flash Disk, 1GB RAM (while Apple iPad with 256MB memory).

Without stunning appearance, black Toshiba AS100 is piano lacquer finish decorated with silvery lines around. Matte textured Toshiba Folio 100 tablet offers great handfeel. Silvery TOSHIBA logo is designed in the center. And the Nvidia label declares the strong core at the lower right corner.

Toshiba Folio 100 sports Nvidia Tegra T2 processor and integrates eight separate processing chips, including the world’s first mobile-optimized up to 1GHz dual-core ARM Cortex A9 CPU for a maximum operating frequency. Due to the ARM architecture, it is impossible to install Windows XP or Win7 system on this platform.

Internet and Audio-Visual Experience

Toshiba AS100 preloaded Opera browser, due to its resolution of 1024 × 600, there is no need to o drag around while browsing web in horizontal screen status. And the browser will automatically reduce the proportion of the page to fit the screen in vertical screen status. You can double-click the area interested in to enlarge to the normal screen ratio.

In terms of hardware, Toshiba AS100 adopts 802.11n wireless network card and reserves a place for 3G module, which allows you to enjoy Internet experience anytime and anywhere. Here, we recommend a software called WebSharing for you. Without wireless network, just run the software then it will automatically generate WEB shared sites. After that, enter the sites and port number and provide password generated randomly so that you can access to data in the Toshiba AS100 tablet easily rather than plug memory card and data cable.

Toshiba AS100 pre-installed Toshiba Media Player which supports AVI, WMV and other popular video media format. Thanks to the powerful Nvidia graphics chip, Toshiba Folio100 can easily deal with 720P and 1080P high definition video. In order to clearly understand the HD video processing capabilities of Toshiba Folio 100, we opted for the third-party software to test.

In BenchMark test, Toshiba AS100 received a score of 1724 points, in which processor scored 3854 and 3D performance scored 607, very outstanding.

Toshiba AS100 equips with 10.8V, 23WH lithium-ion batteries. In the test, we open WIFI, Bluetooth, adjust system volume and screen brightness to the maximum, and use RockPlayer play RMVB video continuously. As a result, Toshiba Folio 100 got a total battery life of 4 hours and 3 minutes. If only for web browsing, then its life can be over 7 hours, and standby time of system can achieve more than a week

When comes to heat, after running the Toshiba AS100 for 3 hours, the highest temperature was only 34 degrees. Play video 30 minutes later; there is no significant change of the highest temperature. Therefore, Nvidia Tegra chip does well in power control.
